Owain Bamforth
Clinical Counsellor
Psychometrist
Hi, I’m Owain. I have a Master of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alberta. I am registered as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I assist with psychometric testing and provide counselling services to couples, adults, and children and youth. I assist adult and youth clients with relationship and marital problems, procrastination, anxiety, and depression. My counselling practice is client lead, and is guided by the principles of respect, cultural curiosity, empowerment, and self-efficacy. I have a special interest in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Gottman Couples Therapy.
Prior to my counselling career I worked as a Child and Youth Care Worker for six years. In that role I provided emotional, behavioural, and interpersonal supports to high-resource children living in care. I have experience helping children with: emotional regulation, building new healthy behaviours, and acquiring new skills that assist them in thriving and moving to new life stages.
In my spare time I enjoy competing in endurance running events, mountain biking, and going on adventures with my family.
